Who we are

About Cate — the founder behind Suffolk Bunny Sanctuary.

My rescue journey began with one rabbit who needed help… then another… and soon people were reaching out with buns who had nowhere else to go. What started as a simple act of kindness quickly became a calling, and the sanctuary grew from there.

Along the way, I have found a wonderful group of bunny ladies who are an incredible support.

Here at Suffolk Bunny Sanctuary, every rabbit is treated as an individual. We offer:

  • Rescue & safe intake for unwanted or at-risk rabbits

  • Gentle rehabilitation to help nervous buns trust again

  • Ethical rehoming, matching each rabbit with the right home

  • Ongoing support for adopters

  • Long-term sanctuary for those who need it

Suffolk Bunny Sanctuary exists because rabbits deserve better — patience, proper care, and a place where their needs always come first.

Whether you’re here to adopt, learn, or follow our sanctuary life, you’re so welcome.

Together, we’re giving every bun a chance at a kinder story.

Rehoming Requirements

At Suffolk Bunny Sanctuary, our priority is simple: every rabbit leaves us for a life that is safe, enriched, and built to last.

Rehoming is not first come, first served. It is a thoughtful process designed to ensure each rabbit is placed in the righthome — one that meets both their physical and emotional needs.

Our non-negotiables

To adopt from SBS, you must be able to provide:

🐰 Appropriate space

Rabbits must have room to run, stretch, and express natural behaviours.

We do not rehome to hutch-only set-ups. Secure outdoor runs, large enclosures, or indoor free-roam spaces are essential.

🐰 Companionship

Rabbits are social animals and should not live alone.

We will only rehome single rabbits where there is a suitable companion waiting, or we can support bonding.

🐰 Safe, suitable housing

Housing must be predator-proof, weather-appropriate, and include soft, solid flooring — no wire floors. We do home checks either in person or via video call.

🐰 Diet & care understanding

A hay-based diet is essential, alongside fresh greens and appropriate pellets.

Access to veterinary care is non-negotiable.

Our process

– An initial enquiry

– A home check (in person or via video)

– A conversation to ensure the match is right both ways

– Ongoing support after adoption

We are here to guide you — not to catch you out.

Adoption fees

Our adoption fees reflect the level of care each rabbit receives before leaving us. Where possible, rabbits are neutered, vaccinated, and health-checked.

We are a non-profit sanctuary. Every fee goes directly back into the care of the rabbits.

A gentle note

We understand that not everyone will meet these requirements — and that’s okay.

But rabbits are often underestimated and underprovided for.

At SBS, we are committed to changing that.

If you’re willing to learn, adapt, and create the right environment, we will support you every step of the way.
